Who are the saints and why do we invoke them?

This visit focuses on the figure of the saints and their iconography, with a brief introduction on the history of Santa Croce. We will learn more about the origin of the word "saint" and the fortune of these characters starting from the Middle Ages. We will find out how the custom of invoking their protection against disease and misfortune has consolidated through the centuries. Bernardo Daddi, Agnolo Gaddi, Coppo di Marcovaldo, Giotto and Vasari, are just some of the authors of the works of art that we will visit along this special journey.
