The complex of Santa Croce is a unique hub where civic and religious values are closely interwoven and coexist side by side within its vast artistic heritage. To help people get to know and to discover this immense spiritual and artistic wealth, the Opera di Santa Croce has developed activities for schools, families, young people and adults, ranging from introductory guided tours to special events for students, themed tours and activities for children.

Discovering Santa Croce's masterpieces

This tour enables visitors to admire the most important works of art housed in Santa Croce and to discover the fascinating history of a complex that began almost eight hundred years ago. The tour, available in both Italian and English, is conducted by qualified guides and lasts approximately 70 minutes.

Themed tours

The Opera di Santa Croce's cultural mediators guide you on special itineraries devised to allow you to discover the complexity of Santa Croce in considerable depth. On these tours you can admire a number of spaces that are not part of the normal visitor experience and discover how civic and religious ideals come together under a single roof.

Activities for children

"Draw My Name: the language of heraldry" is a small guide intended to interest younger visitors in heraldry through the coats-of-arms that abound in Santa Croce. Download it free of charge either before or after your tour of the complex and you can use it to invent your own personal coat-of-arms!

Santa Croce is a unique venue where students can see "live" what they have learnt about in the classroom or in history books, art books and elsewhere.

Teachers can build their own independent tours or else they can choose one of our educational activities.

Santa Croce: a creative venue for cultural mediation

The Opera di Santa Croce has developed a special educational method to help build its vast art historical heritage into various different study pathways.

This initiative is designed primarily for international students in post-diploma educational and scientific institutions.
